Lady June Pace-Martin
I grew up the fourth child and the third daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Murphy Pace, Jr. in Hapeville, Georgia,
b-k-a “Poole Creek.” Growing up in a family neighborhood where everyone looked out for one another was awesome. Having eight sisters and one brother was fun because after our father received Jesus, later on in his life, I would ask him, “Daddy, what do you want?” His answer was always, “All I want is for you to Live Holy!”
Our mother instilled LOVE in us at an early age.
Because of this, we were not allowed to fight or stay angry at one another. My mother had a system which pulled love for one another into our hearts. You were going to love one another God's way or her way! LOL. And yet today I AM GRATEFUL FOR THAT! We were totally surrounded by children in our neighborhood where we played baseball, dodge-ball in the middle of the street! I would also ride my little bike after school, all evening long until the sun went down, then Mother would call and say "it's time to come in the house", because the street lights had come on.
Mother asked questions, and when we answered her, she heard different tones. God spoke to her and said “listen at the sound that each of them answer you in”. She asked us again, and she heard soprano, alto, tenor notes coming out! And she put it to a test and had us to sing something and she grabbed pots and pans and there we were in the kitchen singing! WOW, what a mother, who paid attention to the details!
We began going around to different churches singing. We were The Pace Family, because my brother Murphy sang with us. Duranice, Phyllis, June and Shun. It was the five of us for a while. We began traveling out of state to different conventions singing. Our elementary school held a “School Talent Show” every year and The Pace Family would win every year! As The Pace Family, we recorded a 45 entitled "I'll Be A Witness". At The COGIC Music Convention in New Orleans, we won "The Best Gospel Group Of The Year Award!"
Our brother Murphy, was called into the ministry to preach, therefore he left the group. He was our biggest fan, promoter and somewhat a manager. One day a man named “The Happy Preacher”, heard us sing and he hollowed out “they are anointed!” He said we should be called “The Anointed Pace Sisters” and there you have it. As the other girls graduated from school, MeLonda, DeJuaii, Leslie, Latrice & Lydia, my father added them to the group. The Sisters recorded seven CD’S: “1989 - It’s Morning Time”, “1990 - In The Hands Of God”, “1992 - U-know”, “1995 - My Purpose”, “2003 - It’s Already Done”, “2006 - Return”, & “2009 - Access Granted”. CD’S recorded with their brother’s choir “The Voices of Power”: “Looking for The Promise”, “Strong Holds”, & “Didn’t I Tell Ya?!" We (TAPS) are Stellar Award nominees. We (TAPS) were honored in 2015 with the BMI Trailblazer Award from BMI Vice-President, Catherine Brewton and BMI CEO, Michael O'Neil.
I graduated from Walter F. George High School with a scholarship to attend Andrew College. At the same time I was offered a job to work at Bell South Phone Company. Duranice and Phyllis had gone to college and when they came home, they were having trouble getting a job, so I said let me go ahead and take this offer! I would still travel and sing with my sisters. One day we sang at this church in Atlanta for Rev. Curtis EuGene Martin, and he had a nephew named Dennis! Well you know the rest is history!!!
Dennis and I were married, December 26, 1979. We had a daughter in 1982 and the Rev. Curtis EuGene Martin named her Anthalena Patrice Martin. In 1987, we had a son and I named him Dennis Lamar Martin, II. We have a lovely daughter-in-love, Mae Martin. DL & Mae, have three lovely children: Madison, Dennis 3rd, and Rylee. We have a handsome grandson from Lena: king Lamar!
September 6, 2022 in honor of my sister, Tarrian LaShun Pace birthday, I release my single entitled: "What A Mighty God!" What a milestone! To God Be The Glory!!!
I serve at my husband's church as Co-pastor. President of the Praise and Worship Ministry. I am a full team member of RRC in every capacity. Most importantly, I Love GOD and I accepted Jesus into my life a LONG-TIME-AGO! One of my favorite saying is: "Keep God First In Everything you Say and Do!!!
